Smart film technology, also known as switchable or dynamic film, is an extremely versatile and ideal solution for a very wide range of projects.
The thin layer of liquid crystal micro molecules embedded in the film - available for both glass lamination and self-adhesive application - allows the glass to easily switch from a transparent to an opaque state (and vice versa with 'reverse operation') through the application of an electric current.
In fact, when an electric current is applied, the micro-molecules of liquid crystal align in such a way as to allow light to pass through the glass, making it transparent. Conversely, when the electric current is interrupted, the micro molecules become misaligned, making the glass opaque.

The many practical applications include glass windows, balcony doors and walls, interactive advertising displays, sunroofs and windows for luxury cars and public transport, but also for motorhomes, yachts and cruise ships.
Smart film offers - in all these situations - complete control in terms of privacy, intimacy and flexibility, without compromising the passage of natural light.
This is a feature that should not be underestimated: natural light offers a number of benefits that go far beyond the mere function of illumination. Incorporating natural light into the environments in which we live, study and work can have positive effects on our health, mental well-being and quality of life in general.
Indeed, several studies show that access to natural light is closely linked to improved mood, reduced stress and increased psychological well-being. Exposure to natural light also stimulates the production of serotonin in the brain, a neurotransmitter linked to good mood.
Naturally lit workplaces, but also educational facilities, increase productivity, concentration and performance in general.
In addition to these benefits, the entry of natural light reduces the need for artificial lighting during the day, thus helping to reduce energy consumption and lighting expenditure, improving - in short - the energy efficiency of the building and creating more pleasant and aesthetically pleasing environments.
All in all, smart film is an extremely fascinating solution with multiple uses and benefits. Its flexibility and potential to improve privacy and communication make it the most attractive choice for many residential, commercial and industrial projects and applications.
